We Sell and Install Alarm Systems Across Southern California

Control Freaks is a licensed California alarm company. We design, sell, install, and service burglar and intrusion alarm systems for homes and businesses throughout Orange County and Southern California, and every system we install is connected to a professional 24/7 central monitoring station.

Because we hold a BSIS Alarm Company Operator license (ACO #8296) alongside our CSLB C-7 low voltage contractor license (#1154117), the same team that designs your network, cameras, lighting, and automation also handles your alarm. Nothing gets handed off to a subcontractor, and there is one number to call when something needs attention.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer professional monitoring?

Yes. Control Freaks is a licensed California alarm company (ACO #8296) and the monitoring provider on your account. Professional plans start at $19.99 a month, month to month, with no long term contract. A TMA Five Diamond, UL listed central station watches your system 24/7 and sends police, fire or medical help when it’s needed. Your panel decides which app you get: Alarm.com or Total Connect 2.0. Self monitoring through the app is available too. See our alarm monitoring plans.

Will the cameras work at night?

Yes, we select cameras with the low-light and night vision performance your property needs.

What security panel brands do you install?

We work with Qolsys and Resideo/First Alert panels, chosen for their reliability and tight integration with Alarm.com monitoring and the rest of your smart home.

How do the cameras tie into my network?

We install UniFi Protect cameras backed by the same enterprise-grade Ubiquiti network we build for your home, so footage stays local, fast, and secure instead of depending entirely on the cloud.

Can I access cameras and alarms remotely from my phone?

Yes, both UniFi Protect and Alarm.com have apps that give you live camera views, alerts, and the ability to arm or disarm your system from anywhere.

What happens if the power or internet goes out?

Panels and monitoring equipment run on battery backup, and Alarm.com monitoring can use cellular backup so your alarm still reports even if your internet is down.

Are you licensed to sell and install alarm systems in California?

Yes. Control Freaks holds California BSIS Alarm Company Operator license ACO #8296, issued by the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services. That is the license California requires to sell, install, service, and respond to alarm systems. We also hold CSLB C-7 Low Voltage Systems contractor license #1154117, and we are bonded and insured.

Do you sell alarm systems, or only install them?

Both. We design the system, sell you the equipment, and install and program it ourselves. You get one itemized quote covering the panel, sensors, cameras, and labor, and one licensed team responsible for the whole job rather than a dealer who sells the contract and sends someone else to do the work.

What areas do you install alarm systems in?

We are based in Orange County and install alarm systems for homes and businesses throughout Orange County and the surrounding Southern California region. If you are not sure whether your address falls inside our service area, reach out and we will confirm right away.

Can my alarm work with the rest of my smart home?

Yes, and that is the main reason clients come to us for alarms specifically. Because we also design the network, cameras, lighting, and automation, your alarm is planned as part of one system: arming can trigger lighting and lock scenes, cameras and sensors live in the same app, and everything runs on a network we built to support it.
