Apple Home and Smart Home Automation in Orange County

Apple Home integration and whole home automation across lighting, climate, audio, video and access control, designed and supported here in Orange County.

What's Included

Apple Home is where we do our deepest work. We build fully native Home app setups for Orange County homes, from Irvine and Newport Beach to Mission Viejo, Laguna Niguel and San Clemente: Lutron lighting and shades, Sonos audio, UniFi Protect cameras and doorbells, locks, thermostats and garage doors, all controlled from the Home app, Siri and Apple Watch. Where a product does not speak HomeKit or Matter natively, we bridge it in with Homebridge or Scrypted and keep that bridge running on your own hardware, so your home does not depend on anyone else’s cloud. We also design and support Crestron, URC, Josh.ai, Google Home and SmartThings systems when that is the better fit.

One control system that ties lighting, climate, audio, and security together
Custom scenes for everyday routines, arriving home, movie night, good night

Integration with the equipment you already own where possible

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to replace all my existing devices?

Not usually. We design around compatible equipment you already have and recommend replacements only where it makes a real difference.

What happens if the internet goes down?

Core automation, lighting, climate, and locks, is designed to keep working locally. Only remote access is affected.

Why does Control Freaks focus on Apple Home?

We build fully operational Apple Home environments as our specialty, using Matter and HomeKit-compatible hardware so everything from locks to lighting works natively in the Home app, with no clunky workarounds.

Do you only support Apple Home, or other platforms too?

Apple Home is where we do our deepest work, but we also design and support systems on Google Home, SmartThings, Crestron, URC and Josh.ai, depending on what you and your household use.

Can automation include lighting, climate, and security all together?

Yes, that’s the point. One system can trigger scenes across lighting, climate, audio, and locks, so ‘Goodnight’ can dim lights, lock doors, and adjust the thermostat in one tap or voice command.

How do you handle firmware updates and long-term support?

We keep client systems on our radar for updates and compatibility changes, and offer maintenance plans so your automation keeps working as manufacturers push updates.

Can you get my UniFi cameras, Lutron lights and Sonos into the Apple Home app?

Yes. Lutron works natively with Apple Home. UniFi Protect cameras and doorbells come in through Scrypted with HomeKit Secure Video, and Sonos comes in through Homebridge or AirPlay 2. The result is one Home app with lights, shades, cameras, locks, thermostats and music, plus Siri and automations that run locally.

Do you install Apple Home systems in new construction as well as existing homes?

Both. In a new build or remodel we prewire for hardwired access points, cameras and keypads, then set up the Home app, HomePods and hubs before move in. In an existing home we work with what is already there, replace only what needs replacing, and bring everything into one Home app over a visit or two.
